Social media is a great resource, and that is precisely what Argentine MP María Celeste Ponce has recently realised. A photograph of the parliamentarian went viral on social media with no arguments other than the politician's look. 

Originally from Córdoba, Ponce defines herself as “a right-wing woman,” so her political thoughts are in line with those of the recently elected President of Argentina, Javier Milei.

In the image in question, María Celeste Ponce appears in her parliamentary office next to the Argentine flag, a national symbol that the woman herself highlighted in a post. “I’m happy to have the Argentine flag in my office!” said Ponce, who unexpectedly became the protagonist of the most viral image of recent days. "It's a normal photo, in the office. Nothing more. 

I don't know why it went viral," Ponce said at first, but later changed his story. “I get all kinds of comments, but the truth is that I only read what I consider important, something to which I can really contribute. I am not interested in superficial things,” added the woman, who confessed to having suffered from obesity when she was a child. 

"I have overcome myself and that is why what people say about my body is not something that keeps me up at night. Some comments even seem nice to me," said the politician, who has more than 6.5 million "Likes" for onlyn one image.

She was denounced in the media by a young advisor, who claims that the legislator from Córdoba demanded that she hand over more than 70% of her monthly salary.

The deputy of La Libertad Avanza, María Celeste Ponce, was accused of extorting an advisor. The young woman reported that the woman from Córdoba demanded that she give her part of her salary every month. The amount was around 500 thousand pesos.

The accusation, which for the moment would only be media-related, was exposed on the channel “El Presto” , run by journalist and influencer Eduardo Prestofelippo. Through a series of audios, the young woman recounted how the operation was carried out.

“Of the 700 thousand pesos I was paid as an advisor, they took 500 and I kept 200. So don't trust that they are good people, they are a scum. Celeste Ponce above all,” says the audio that Prestofelippo played on air.

The operation, according to the complaint, was simple: the young woman received her salary and the woman from Cordoba claimed more than 70 percent of the total. The situation was repeated from April to June 2024 and is documented with bank transfers.

“I decided not to give her the money she was demanding anymore. I was working to earn the money and therefore, it belonged to me. I decided not to lend myself to her extortion any longer,” the young woman said. According to the journalist, the young woman will file a formal complaint in the next few days.

María Celeste Ponce is one of the recruits that Javier Milei made in his race for the presidency of Argentina. After becoming president, María Celeste became a deputy. The politician is 36 years old and was born in the town of Huinca Renancó, in the province of Córdoba. She is single and has no children. As shown by several photographs together, Celeste is one of Javier Milei's trusted people.

Her Twitter profile (X) reflects her ideology. She defines herself as an anti-feminist and from Córdoba, and adds "God above all" to show her faith. According to various media, Celeste studied Law at the National University of Córdoba and is preparing her thesis. As an entrepreneur, she created 'Celeste Cielo' in 2017, a local company that had to close due to the pandemic.

She also defines herself as the black sheep of her family, working class in her words, and the middle of three sisters. "I decided to leave the communications career and start Law at the National University of Córdoba. I studied there for three years while working independently." The now deputy left her studies due to a health problem. "I suffered a strong emotional relapse. I had depression and was forced to leave everything for almost two years. I lost a lot of weight and began to change some habits."

In 2022, he founded "Pumas Libertarios" , a group in which he gathered a significant number of activists in his province. It was then that he met President Javier Milei: "He knew that I defend the ideas of freedom, that helped me position myself as the head of the list of deputies of one of the most important provinces at the electoral level." And he added: "Javier is a friend, a person with whom I can speak freely, learn and admire at the same time."

One of the deputies recruited by Javier Milei in the race for the presidency has gone viral on social media, mainly for a photo and for being an influencer, as well as a politician. This is María Celeste Ponce , who headed the list of national Deputies of the libertarian space in Córdoba. Her tweet, in which she appears next to the Argentine flag and the phrase: " Happy to have the Argentine flag in my office ", has exceeded one million views.

This is how she explained how she became so close to Milei: " At that time we shared related content , then we talked about other topics and over time I became interested in her ideas and began formal support through Pumas Libertarios," she said.

"Javier wanted it to be as spontaneous as possible, so we didn't give much notice. It was impressive, so many people wanted to take a photo with him, you literally couldn't walk. He has a unique personality and people see him as authentic, honest, and it's not just the young people. It's not that he doesn't want to talk to journalists, he doesn't have time. Javier will never ask you for anything, he knows how I think and he told me: 'You don't have to do anything else, '" he explained.
